Have you ever seen how quickly a sponge just absorbs liquids around it? – wine, water or wee. There is a lesson to be learnt from this. You have a purpose and if you are 100% determined to make a success of your life, something I like to call passion, then you probably have a plan as-well.
Reach for your dreams, acquire vast amounts of knowledge and take actionable steps this year.
May this be the year of GETTING AHEAD!
What does it mean to have purpose?
Your purpose is the underlying reason for you living your life. Sometimes we struggle to find our purpose in life, but our inner determination to find this purpose within us, brings a wonderful sense of meaning to life.
Why is passion important in life?
Passion fuels purpose into an actionable plan. It is the ‘middleman of motivation’ in life that steers you on the right path, especially on those days procrastination creeps in.
What is the importance of having a plan?
An intended future course of action aimed at achieving goals in life. A plan often means that there are goals or future actions in mind. Failing to plan is planning to fail.
So what do I mean when I say get ahead by absorbing everything like a sponge?
“The secret to getting ahead is getting started. The secret to getting started is breaking your complex, overwhelming tasks into small manageable tasks, then starting on the first one.” – Mark Twain
Yes, Mark Twain is correct. Ultimately it is driving your plans into action by taking that first step – sometimes the most challenging step – forward that pushes you past your comfort zone and gets you ahead.
On the other hand….
What drives action? Emotion
Emotion can make you go from weak to strong, needy to self-reliant, shy to socially confident – strange hey?!
Well emotion is the baseline of my point. Have you ever been put off by a certain lecturer at university, absolutely dreading his/her class.
What happened? Emotion got in the way, resulting in you bunking or simply just sitting in the class absorbing NOTHING! Sometimes you can’t control the amount of brain power you have, but you can definitely work on the amount of knowledge and wisdom you gain and strive to gain. I am not saying that when human says the glass is half empty that it is actually half empty #freedomofopinion. However you should be open to absorbing new information constantly, from many different sources, in order to make valid conclusions for yourself. After all knowledge is power.
So be a sponge – constantly driven to seek and absorb new information – and watch how getting ahead suddenly becomes effortless.
